Brookdale Senior Living & The Keep A Breast Foundation

ABOUT THE ARTIST

This gifted artist has donated her time and talent to create a beautiful breast cast for the Generation Pink auction. A wonderfully creative art form has been transformed from a plain white cast to support stopping breast cancer. Brookdale Senior Living and Keep A Breast are sincerely grateful for this artist's contribution!

  Kim Taggart

Inspired by her love for healthy eating and food sources close to the earth, Kim wanted to inspire viewers to get back to the basics. Eat more green, go outdoors, keep a positive attitude, and discard the stress in our lives that bog us down mentally, physically, or emotionally. This simple landscape was painted on a textured surface to remind her not to get too detailed with the paintbrush. “It’s easy for me to get caught up in painting tiny details and miss out on the general impression felt when viewing the peaceful countryside.”

Native Kansan, Kim Taggart has been an artist since she can remember. Her kindergarten drawings captured the attention of her teacher and a drawing in first grade resulted in the Board of Education keeping her art permanently. Starting with private art lessons as a child by a professor at Mid America Nazarene College in Olathe, Kansas, she won many awards and contests throughout primary school. She continued her studies at Kansas State University earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1985. Here she developed a unique style that blends proficient execution with a highly appealing creative vision.

That’s where her fine art work took a sabbatical for something she calls LIFE. Although Kim has been an entrepreneur in business using her artistic talent, she wasn’t expressing her passion for drawing and painting through her work. All the ideas and painting series she has created in her mind, are still waiting to be brought to life on canvas. Instead, life took her down some adventurous, mostly routine, and many humble paths. Most rewarding is single-parenting her two daughters and being very involved in their lives. Work and many volunteer opportunities consumed the rest of her time. One occasion of painting murals on church walls is where she had a resurgence into art again. The blank canvas of a wall and the satisfaction from painting again brought on an awakening of her abilities. Kim is currently painting murals throughout the Kansas City area.  www.kansascitymurals.com
